This training is designed to provide background and practical tips to effectively write scientific articles for publication in a scientific journal, with a main focus on the publication of clinical trial results. The training consists of 4 modules:

1) Scientific literature types and databases,
2) Scientific journals,
3) Scientific articles,
4) Practical guide to writing scientific articles.

What will you learn?

  • Module 1: This module is part of a training designed to provide background and practical tips to effectively write scientific articles for publication in a scientific journal, with a main focus on the publication of clinical trial results. The learning objectives of this first module are 1) know the different types of scientific literature, 2) list the most important literature databases and know when and how to use them.
  • Module 2: This module is part of a training designed to provide background and practical tips to effectively write scientific articles for publication in a scientific journal, with a main focus on the publication of clinical trial results. The learning objectives of this second module are 1) know the key attributes that determine the quality of a scientific journal, 2) distinguish the different publishing models of scientific journals, 3) recognize predatory journals and know why to avoid them, 4) make a well-considered decision when choosing a target journal to publish your research in.
  • Module 3: This module is part of a training designed to provide background and practical tips to effectively write scientific articles for publication in a scientific journal, with a main focus on the publication of clinical trial results. The learning objectives of this third module are: 1) identify the necessary guidelines and instructions for writing the scientific article and know how and when to use them, 2) define the structure of a scientific article, 3) know how to populate each of the main parts of a scientific article. Note that a large part of the information is also applicable to articles written in other diverse scientific domains.
  • Module 4: This module is part of a training designed to provide background and practical tips to effectively write scientific articles for publication in a scientific journal, with a main focus on the publication of clinical trial results. The learning objectives of this fourth and last module are: 1) write a high-quality scientific article of your own using a step-by-step guide, 2) know how to avoid rejection during peer review, 3) know how to deal with reviewers’ comments.

The course is quite insightful, and it takes you through all the stages of scientific writing, starting from the general to more specific aspects. I enjoyed the examples and ways to avoid rejection when submitting articles.
